St Charles County Department of Health:
Nutrition and Exercise Class 

Free of Charge;  Classes are by request;   Participants will learn about nutrition using the MyPlate philosophy. We will discuss healthy food choices and the importance of physical activity in their daily lives https://www.sccmo.org/738/Health-Education-Classes

American Heart Association – Healthy for Life®

We aim to change food and health attitudes and behaviors, equipping individuals with new skills for healthy living. Are you interested in teaching people in your community how to make healthy food, nutrition, and lifestyle choices? The Healthy for Life Educational Experiences focus on interactive features like healthy cooking demonstrations, shopping skills presentations and nutrition and heart health workshops. Our goal is to help individuals and families learn how healthy food can help them accomplish their goals and reach their potential every day. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with others across county with other facilitators through our online community.

 MU Ext Programs:

Taking Care of You*
Is stress controlling your life? This 8-session course aims to help
participants manage stress levels and improve overall lifestyle behaviors.
Many of these techniques can be incorporated into your normal routine to
improve peace of mind. This course can either be done in 4 2-hour long
weekly sessions or 8 1-hour long sessions over 8 weeks.
Stay Strong, Stay Healthy*
Are you 60 years or older, and wanting to spice up your workout routine?
Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is a weight lifting class geared towards keeping
older adults moving. Over the course of this 8-week class, feel yourself gain
strength, and confidence to keep moving the way you want!
Matter of Balance
Concerned about falling? In this free 8-week class, learn tips and exercises
geared toward preventing nasty spills.
Walk with Ease*
This 6-session program is designed to get walking into your regular routine. Walk to move your joints and
better your arthritis pain. Your body is made to move!
Strength in Numbers*
This community-based program has a multitude of different health topics. Each short 1-hour session is
delivered to a group of community leaders who can then take it back and disseminate it to their own
groups. By spreading this accurate, evidence-based health information on multiple scales, we can reach
more people. Become a community leader today and start making an impact on the health of others’ lives
around you!
Performance Nutrition*
Are you very active or becoming active and want to know the best way to nourish your body before and
after exercise? Take this 6-session program and learn strategies for pre and post workout energy
requirements.
Health Information for Men*
Tired of stressing about your health? Learn more about diseases specific to you and how to better take a
handle of your health. Topics include hypertension, blood lipids, stress, sleep, low testosterone, and
prostate health.
Food Preservation*
Does preserving your crop yields seem daunting? Learn how to safely pickle, freeze, can, and dehydrate a
variety of foods including salsas, fruits, vegetables, and more! Leave no food to rot and learn how to
safely store your newly preserved goods so you can enjoy them at your leisure! This course can be done
extensively over 5 sessions or an abridged one-session version. An online version is also available.
Chronic Disease Self-Management*
Are you or a loved one struggling with chronic disease? In this free 6-week class, you’ll learn techniques
like problem solving, and decision-making to help manage common problems of individuals with chronic
diseases. This class will meet once a week for 2.5 hours.
Chronic Disease Self-Management for Workplace*
This class is designed specifically to address chronic illness at the workplace. This class addresses ways
to improve overall health in two weekly 1-hour classes over 6 weeks. Participants can take charge of
their health without leaving the office.
Diabetes Self-Management*
Is controlling your diabetes a daily struggle for you? In this free 6-week class, adults with Type II diabetes
can learn techniques like problem-solving and decision-making to help manage their disease. Learn how
to set goals to becoming a healthier you! This class meets weekly for one 2.5 hour classes.
Chronic Pain Self-Management*
Do you or a loved one suffer from chronic pain? With this free series course, learn strategies to cope with
your pain and live a more normal life.

mentality!
Diabetes Prevention and Management
Are you or a loved one suffering from diabetes? Or maybe you’ve got a history of diabetes in your
family? Learn about some lifestyle changes to improve your blood sugar and help manage your
diabetes risk.
Fall Prevention— Stay upright!
Feeling unsteady on your feet or afraid of falling? Learn some principles to incorporate into your daily
life to stay upright and independent. Learn more about some series classes offered by MU Extension to
improve your strength and balance over time!
